Welcome to Our Dogs
Glenbrook Cocker Spaniels begun officially less than 10 years ago. Situated on the Mornington Peninsula in Frankston South, we began as a husband and wife team but now have additional partner, Meg Hardy. All of us grew up with cocker spaniels and they remain are very special part of our lives. Although Ken and Janette have always owned a cocker spaniel or two, they only ventured into showing in 2006 and had a very successful start showing dogs from other breeders.
Our first successes were with our dog Ch. Elspan Crown Derby who gained his title at thirteen months of age. Derby was shown successfully overseas and obtained his Indian Grand Champion title. We also showed successfully and titled a beautiful dark blue roan girl Ch. Cobalt Dragon Mist (Zena) and a lovely solid black girl Ch. Britebay Thoroughly Modern (Millie). Whilst we were establishing ourselves in the show circuit, we were provided with the opportunity to lease for twelve months, Ch. Elspan Silverceptre (Reba) owned by Gunloch Kennels to support our breeding program. Reba produced our first home-bred girl Ch. Glenbrook Take That (Saffina). Glenbrook Kennels was on its way! However, it was Millie who became our foundation bitch and she has produced 4 Glenbrook Australian Champions: Glenbrook The Great Gatsby, Glenbrook Golden Days, Glenbrook Greased Lightning, and Glenbrook Glamour Girl.
As I write this, I can say how excited we are with our kennels today as our dogs represent strong Australian and imported lines with several grandchampions in their impressive pedigrees. Our future is very promising. In 2016 we won Best of Breed, Runner Up Beet Of Breed and Reserve Dog Challenge at the Royal Melbourne Show - A hat trick!
Ken is a trained and accredited steward, a member of the Steward Association here in Victoria and in South Australia. This role which provides us with the opportunity to travel around our state, to enjoy the hospitality of country shows and to show our dogs in the most loveliest parts of the country. We have enjoyed the opportunity to travel and to meet many other exhibitors within Victoria and across Australia, and we thank them all for willingly sharing their knowledge and expertise. It is the people you meet along the way, that make the journey more enjoyable.
As a small kennel our focus will be on breeding of Cocker Spaniels for temperament and type – we will always remain a small and select kennel priding ourselves in bringing the beautiful personality of the cocker to the forefront. All enquiries for studs or puppies are very welcome. Please contact us for details.
